Apart from that, this merino blend tee also boasts all those tried-and-tested benefits of nature’s miracle material. Soft on your skin and itch-free, it's warm yet breathable at the same time. The Cascade is also quick-drying, and it won’t pick up odours like synthetics do.

• Flashy technical outerwear is all well and good, but the foundation for all-day comfort in the great outdoors is a solid baselayer. Unfortunately, most are tight-fitting and uninspired, made from flimsy fabrics that look like Swiss cheese after a week or two on the trail.
