Inspired by the Kiwi snow sports scene, and built for movement in the mountains, the Cascade Merino Flex 200 is a long-sleeved base layer with a mock neck design from Mons Royale. Using that all-familiar and oh-so-powerful merino wool, rest assured, you’ll be both warm and dry on your adventures, without compromising on sustainability or style. Constructed for comfort and flexibility, Mons Royale uses merino flex technologies here, which has a four-way stretch for better mobility and shape retention. There’s also a simple, straight hem design, handy sports-focused thumb loops, some anti-friction flat locked seams, and a slim fit to trap in that precious heat. With sizes ranging from XS to 2XL, and both understated and stand-out design options to choose from, there’s something for everyone here

• Flashy technical outerwear is all well and good, but the foundation for all-day comfort in the great outdoors is a solid baselayer. Unfortunately, most are tight-fitting and uninspired, made from flimsy fabrics that look like Swiss cheese after a week or two on the trail.

  Enter New Zealand-based brand, Mons Royale, born out of the Kiwi snow sports scene in the mountains above Lake Wanaka. Making merino base layers, jerseys and sweaters is what they do – and it really shows. 

  Just about everything in the Mons range is built around ethically and sustainably produced merino wool – a fibre with so many miracle properties that only Mother Nature could have come up with it. But it’s Mons Royale’s more relaxed approach to design that really makes them stand out.
